MAGNIFY is actively seeking a skilled and reliable Building Engineer to support two of our client’s properties in the Norfolk, VA area.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting across various systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building infrastructure. This position is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys variety, independence, and problem-solving in the field.

NOTE(s):

• This is a contract role – expectation is 8+ weeks of FULL-TIME employment
• Must have a valid driver’s license , minimal travel between two properties is required

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance at multiple residential and/or commercial properties.
• Diagnose and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliances, and general building upkeep.
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure properties remain in optimal condition.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as part of the on-call rotation.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors when specialized work is required.
• Maintain tools, parts, and company vehicle (if provided) in safe and working condition.
• Ensure compliance with safety and building codes.

Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in general maintenance, building systems, or a related trade.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair practices.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel between sites daily; some overnight travel may be required.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• HVAC or trade certifications a plus (EPA, CFC, etc.).
