Job Description

The Operation & Maintenance Site Manager is responsible for executing all aspects of operation and maintenance of a Netafim irrigation system, including executing the irrigation schedule, injection of any nutrients or other compounds through the irrigation system, monitoring system performance, performing and/or overseeing regular system maintenance and repairs, and troubleshooting the automation system. This role is an essential part of our rapidly growing organization that will help us deliver exceptional results to clients. The successful candidate will possess the knowledge, experience, and confidence to engage and professionally interact with our field agronomists, project managers and commercial team. This role is also a critical interface with customers, suppliers and other contractors and will define and supervise the daily activities of field irrigation staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of operation and maintenance of a large-scale agricultural drip irrigation system, including daily scheduling and operation of the system, routine maintenance, and preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the Netafim and customer agronomy teams to determine and execute the daily, weekly, and seasonal irrigation schedule.
  • Oversee the injection of all nutrients, crop protection, and system maintenance compounds that will go through the irrigation system.
  • Operate the system automation components, including controllers, telemetry units, control valves, and field-based sensors.
  • Maintain an appropriate and secure inventory of spare parts in order to quickly execute the majority of repairs.
  • Monitor levels of all nutrients, crop protection and system maintenance compounds, and interface with farm management staff to ensure on-time delivery of additional materials.
  • Identify system repair requirements, then deploy staff to execute necessary repairs and verify completion.
  • Actively monitor the system for changes in performance that might indicate leaks, clogging or other changes to system performance; identify the root cause and determine the best course of action to remedy the situation.
  • Maintain system performance logs and report weekly performance to Netafim and customer farm-management teams.
  • Report any system failures or anticipated challenges that might interfere with constant operation to the project team.
  • Quickly and appropriately respond to requests by the farm-operations team, within the constraints of the irrigation system and our agreed-upon service levels.
  • Elevate issues that are more complex and are not easily solved or exceed budget.
  • Ensure the highest quality workmanship of all irrigation staff and vendors, including adherence to all safety standards.
  • Attend internal and external training on irrigation techniques and products offered by Netafim in order to suggest system improvements and improve the client solution.
  • Maintain site cleanliness, order, tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Maintain best safety practices while on project sites and while executing day to day duties.

Proficiencies-Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, plant science, soil science or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience installing or operating a large-scale agricultural drip irrigation system.
  • Pesticide Application Permit or Certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to interface with multiple functions.
  • Thoughtful and effective communicator
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail, quality orientation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Some travel may be required.
