Job Title: R&D Manager – PVC Formulation (Polymer Industry)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Manager to lead our research and development initiatives focused on PVC formulation within the polymer industry. This role requires a deep understanding of polymer chemistry and extensive experience in developing innovative PVC-based solutions for applications in construction, packaging, automotive, and more. With a PhD or Master’s degree preferred, the successful candidate will manage a team of scientists, drive cutting-edge formulation projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, market-leading products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and optimization of PVC formulations, including rigid and flexible compounds, to meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee research projects from ideation to commercialization, focusing on PVC compounding, stabilization, and additive integration.
• Manage and mentor a team of R&D scientists and engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
• Design and execute experiments to evaluate PVC properties using advanced analytical methods (e.g., FTIR, DSC, TGA, mechanical testing).
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and marketing teams to ensure formulations align with manufacturing capabilities and customer needs.
• Innovate with plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers, and other additives to enhance PVC durability, processability, and sustainability.
• Monitor industry trends and competitor products to maintain a competitive edge in PVC technology.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations (e.g., REACH, RoHS, EPA) during formulation development.
• Prepare technical documentation, including research reports, patent applications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage R&D project budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve milestones efficiently.

Qualifications:

• PhD or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (PhD strongly preferred).
• 7+ years of experience in polymer R&D, with a specialization in PVC formulation and processing.
• Expertise in PVC compounding techniques, including extrusion, calendering, and injection molding.
• Strong understanding of PVC applications (e.g., pipes, profiles, films, cables) and their performance requirements.
• Proficiency in polymer characterization tools and techniques (e.g., rheology, SEM, tensile testing).
• Proven leadership experience managing R&D teams and delivering successful product innovations.
• Ability to innovate and solve complex technical challenges, with a track record of patents or product launches preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills for collaborating across departments and presenting to leadership.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with sustainable PVC solutions, such as phthalate-free plasticizers or recycled PVC formulations.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards specific to PVC (e.g., NSF, ASTM, UL).
• Knowledge of computational modeling or simulation tools for polymer development.
